Weather curriculum Web
I have designed this website to be used through the course of the quarter. The activities have been designed in a scaffolded manner. In the beginning of the web, students read, synthesize information, and write down important key facts using graphic organizers to organize their thoughts. I have found that modeling the first website and doing some "think alouds" with the students helps ease them into the assignment.
Next, students have to gather raw data and incorporate that data into line graphs. This part will take time and is also designed to make use of outside resources and the building of networks. They will need time to contact an outside resource and time for that resource to respond to them. So, if you are studying weather for the quarter, I suggest starting this project at the beginning and designating some time in computer labs, and some homework time if possible, in the middle of the quarter for this section.
The final section can be done at the end of the quarter. The idea is to give students autonomy over how they gather, record, and present their findings. Each student will need to meet with their teacher at the beginning of the final project to design his/her rubric.
I have included a contact form below should you want me to contact you.
